The training was extensive, comprehensive, and detailed. I appreciated that.

I couldn't figure out how to market after receiving certificate. And no one explains the amount of cost this whole thing ends up being. It was ridiculous and I stopped, canceled LLC, and stopped marketing or looking for a position of any sort. I feel I lost a lot of money.

The layout was easy to follow and the community support was superb.

The material is extremely relevant and goes beyond just proofreading basics into marketing and client acquisitions. I love the support network and the PA staff's eagerness to help. Worth every penny!

The course was easy to understand. It started from the basics and worked up to actual proofreading. There was plenty of quizzes and practice sheets and essays to ensure success.

As a paralegal looking for extra income, I took the transcript proofreading course. I had my first client within a week of graduating and have never had issues finding work despite minimal marketing efforts. I've actually had to turn work down on a few occasions and strongly believe the need is out there. I don't think it is realistic to replace a full-time income, but it is great for supplemental. The work is there but the eye strain and thought of reading depositions, murder trials, etc. in the amount you'd need to replace a full-time income is not something I personally could handle. I did quit my paralegal job and PA allowed me to earn extra income while helping care for my father-in-law while he was on hospice and build great connections. During that time, I was approached via LinkedIn by a recruiter from my state's court system. Long story short, I'm now an official court reporter. I'm a digital reporter as steno is a dying profession (their words, not mine - I was shocked they even found me qualified). I have full respect and admiration of their work, but between the court systems not being able to fill the positions and advancements in technology, many are transitioning to digital. It's a pretty sweet gig and I do credit Proofread Anywhere for giving me the tools to be successful and able to properly produce transcripts. The only reason I'm not giving it a fifth star is because working in the legal field so long, I know so many people who this would be a great fit for. Either as supplemental or those looking to retire while still earning some income. I asked about an affiliate program and "upon further review" I was denied because I don't have a blog and I'm not an influencer, so they weren't interested. I thought that was pretty crummy to not reward loyal customers/students who are earning money because of the course and want to share by word of mouth, but rather only those whose primary earning capacity is not based on their course, but as an influencer. Otherwise, I found it well worth the money.

I came out of the course feeling pretty experienced due to the number of practice transcripts that were provided to us. We also needed to pass a midterm transcript test and a final transcript test as well, so that helped bolster confidence in my proofreading abilities! However, it's very much a "buy the course and do the best you can on your own" type of situation (and they are transparent about that!). There really isn't personal support from the people who work for Proofread Anywhere. While you can ask questions in a Facebook group (and there's a lot of support there!), there's no actual investment from Proofread Anywhere to ensure their students understand the material. That's up to you. Also, it's a common complaint from the people who take the course that the annotated transcripts (kind of like the "answer key" for the practice work you do) need to be updated, looked at, etc. It's a source of frustration from many who take the course, and Proofread Anywhere doesn't acknowledge that frustration from their students. Overall, if you do the work, pay attention, etc., you'll be pretty ready for the "real world" of proofreading, but it can be frustrating at times to go through the course due to the fact that there's no real "teacher" to ask your questions to.

I completed the course and passed the exam. Throughout the entire course, I was frustrated with many things. If you're interested in having a cheerleader this course is for you, but if you're interested in quality instruction look elsewhere. Nearly every module and recommendation was to "do your own research". This is acceptable to a point, but there was very little actual "instruction" in the course itself. Grading seemed quite ambiguous at times. Every last practice essay and even the final exam were written so poorly it was annoying. I understand that there are more errors to catch in garbage writing, but it is much harder to catch errors when the writing is good. It would have been nice to include some technical or scientific practice essays. Overall, I feel this was NOT worth the money or time as there are more structured and reputable programs out there. I do already have work lined up so this is not a review based on me not being able to find work. If you DO purchase this course, stay away from the drama and ridiculousness on the Facebook group!
