We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization powered by a community of hobbyists that offer full-featured web hosting services for free. Our mission is to provide high quality web hosting for free to as many people as possible. We believe that everyone should have access to their own website whether they're a student to a small business owner, and everything in between. We're operated by a team of highly experienced volunteers who are passionate about what we do.Many schools around the world don't have the resources to provide their students with an online environment where they can learn to create a website. HelioHost aims to solve this issue by providing free hosting accounts for the teachers and students. Many small businesses can't afford to pay for hosting in order to sell their products online. HelioHost aims to solve this by providing free hosting and low cost hosting to small businesses to allow them to have an online presence. We offer as many free hosting accounts as we can, and we also offer donation based hosting accounts to help offset the cost of providing hosting for free. In addition, we provide affordable VPS hosting plans and scaling pricing based on usage for people who wish to upgrade from the free plans. We encourage community members to help each other, and recruit new volunteers from the community who are the most helpful. We own all of our own hardware so we don't have to resell hosting services from other companies which helps us keep costs low.

Bin seit 14 Jahren dort, top Webhost für Miniprojekte

Thanks for the 5 star review, Terrai! That's amazing that you've been using our hosting for 14 years now. There is another active user that we know has been using our hosting for 19 years too. Most free hosting providers come and go within only a year or two, but HelioHost refuses to give up.

I love this company. In the past they had some issues with downtime, but I haven't experienced any down time in a few years. The requirment to log in once a month can be a little bit of a pain, but it helps them get rid of inactive users, thereby reducing cost, and saves more memory for the rest of us.

Thanks for the 5 star review, Barronm! It looks like you upgraded to the Morty plan, so you don't even need to worry about logging in each month anymore. In the past we've had to cut costs with older hardware, and less reliable systems. We've had a few massive downtimes due to failed hardware, but since our bank account is no longer dropping at an alarming rate anymore, we don't need to cut corners and be so cheap these days. Our primary focus over the last few years is to be more reliable, so all of our plans are on redundant raid arrays, on newer hardware, we've put a lot of effort into automating our alert system, and we have spare hardware in our cabinet ready to swap in within minutes of being needed. Let us know if you need help with anything.

The service is quite robust, with automatic SSL and free choice of php version (from 5.6 to 8.5) for each domain you own. Some features are still missing on Plesk -- like adding new domains --, and require that you contact the admins using the forum, but they're quite fast and fair in resolving any issue. The only complaint I have is that from time to time the website gets really slow, stops responding, and then returns to normal, maybe due to spiders crawling the website. For the price (1$ USD/month), it's a pretty fair deal.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, Ateusnet. I took a look at your account and noticed that you're using Wordpress with a lot of weird junk and strange filenames. Having a lot of randomly named files is a pretty common sign that your Wordpress has been hacked, which could explain the slowness. Let us know if you need help checking the integrity of your software. We've also had a few other people complain about Wordpress being slow on the shared hosting. One guy upgraded to a VPS and had to have 8 GB of dedicated memory before Wordpress didn't feel slow. It's insane how bloated that software is. We have a whole wiki page dedicated to how bad it is if you're curious about it. https://wiki.helionet.org/WordPress We would love to know what we could do to earn that last star though. We consider anything less than a 5 star review a failure. Let us know how we can help.

#1 - Easy to use interface. Setting up webpages and writing your own HTML is is easy and intuitive on this webserver. #2 - remote linking on other forums and websites is allowed. #3 - Uptime is over 99%.
Response from HelioHost· Mar 17, 2026
Thanks for the 5 star review, Joseph! Those three points are really good information for anyone looking for a free or low cost web host. When we used cPanel people always told us how confusing it was, and constantly complained to us about how hard it was to figure out. Now that we've switched to Plesk we've gotten a lot of feedback on how it's more intuitive and easier to use. Let us know if you need help with anything.

This company has been around for a while. I have never had trouble with them, and in fact they have gone out of their way to help me at times when I needed it.
Response from HelioHost· Mar 16, 2026
Thanks for the 5 star review, Neishai! We've been providing free web hosting since 2005, so yes, 21 years definitely counts as having "been around for a while". Most free hosting providers come and go pretty quick, but we've obviously found the recipe for longevity. There have been a few times where we came close to shutting down, but our volunteers and our donors never gave up. Hopefully we can continue to exist and adapt for another 21 years or more. Let us know if you need help with anything.

This hosting is like the best one I had over a year now, it’s really helpful for starters finding a way to host simple websites without much hassles. Also, the support team is the best as they’re helpful and get on well w/ me
Response from HelioHost· Mar 12, 2026
Thanks for the 5 star review, Mineturtlee! It's always nice to get a review from some of our free users. Since signups have a tendency to be full most of the day people always like to read that it is possible to get a free account, and that you're welcome to continue using the free account for as many years as you want. Let us know if you need help with anything.

Really good Thanks you!!!!
Response from HelioHost· Mar 10, 2026
Thanks for the 5 star review, Olwer! We really have to give all the credit to our amazing donors who pay the bills to keep the lights on, and our amazing volunteers who work without pay to keep this whole operation running. Without either of these critical components HelioHost would have shut down years ago. Let us know if you need help with anything.
