Same experience as Andrew - since Liquid Web took over its a disaster. First I could no longer login - took 10 days, 2 mails and chat to restore. Then a plugin was expired and forced to pay rediculously high amount, complaint then another amount way higher that reactivating amount. Time to find a better events calendar plugin.

I've been using The Events Calendar to build a community events platform and it's been one of the most frustrating software experiences I've had in years. On paper, it does everything I need. In reality, I've spent weeks trying to get the CSV importer to work consistently. I've rebuilt my import files multiple times, changed date formats, tested small batches, deleted thousands of events, emptied the trash, cleared ignored events, compared imports against exports... you name it. The biggest issue has been the importer. It decides when events are duplicates in ways that seem inconsistent, and when it updates events it randomly drops categories and other metadata. Support has acknowledged that duplicate detection and updates can affect metadata, but there are no detailed logs to actually see why something failed. That makes troubleshooting almost impossible. The irony is that I bought the software to save time through automation, but I've spent far more time trying to make the software work than actually building my website. It's honestly been a huge waste of time and money. Like many people here, I remember when The Events Calendar was one of those plugins you could confidently recommend. Since the Liquid Web acquisition, it feels like the quality, reliability and overall experience have gone backwards. Reading through this thread, it's disappointing—but also reassuring—to know I'm not the only one experiencing it. I've now reached the point where I'm abandoning the importer completely and writing my own import process. That's not something I ever expected to have to do after paying for a mature commercial plugin. It's a real shame, because underneath all of this is a product that used to be excellent.

I used The Events Calendar plugin for 2 years and would not recommend it. The calendar frequently went out of sync without warning, requiring constant manual intervention. On top of that, it took a lot of customization just to make it look halfway decent. The customer support and return policy were also extremely disappointing. The company will charge you for a full year, even if you’ve only used the product for 30 days. There’s no flexibility and the experience feels very unfriendly. There are much better calendar products out there that are more reliable, easier to use, and backed by companies that actually care about their customers. Save yourself the headache and avoid this plugin.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS with these people! They are the absolute worst. I cancelled my subscription and they still have attempted to charge my card 5 times and counting. Their plugin is buggy and their support is non-existent.

Events Calendar Plus advertises that you can use Elementor customisation, but fails to mention when you do so, you lose the 'get tickets' block. Meaning you end up without a checkout function, UNLESS you purchase Event Tickets Pro as well... Go for a different ticketing plugin if using Elementor, this one just blocks aspects behind ADDITIONAL paywalls. Adding Elementor customisation shouldn't remove purchasing options.

HORRIBLE! Constantly breaks. Updates create huge unsolvable problems. I have had to pay hundreds of dollars for outside support and have lost COUNTLESS orders

Beware the autorenewing subscription, which will increase year-on-year without warning. It's increased by over $100 per year in five years, and this subscription is in fact only for "premium support". How premium is the support? Enough to justify $179? Well - the plugin itself works OK : clunky to use at times and some weird workarounds that you have to use, but the support team haven't replied to my messages at all. This all feels a bit... scammy. I guess partly my fault for not keeping on top of why a plugin was debiting sharply increasing amounts of money over PayPal each year, but it's quite obviously a business model of relying on enough people not noticing what's happening.
