Loved the books but the last few the character didn't quite match and they also added new books that I wasn't able to get on the monthly subscription.... no more books ordered after that
Response from Magic Story· Oct 2, 2026
Amy, thank you for sharing this, and I’m sorry it took us so long to reply. I understand how disappointing it is when the character no longer feels like your child, especially after enjoying earlier books. I’d also like to understand which stories you were unable to select with your subscription so we can look into both concerns. Please email our team at [email protected]; I’d appreciate the chance to help. — Erik, Co-founder

Beautiful illustrations. I'm sooo very disappointed in the story. The first few pages use angry, oppositional language from both mother and child. "... young girl named **** began to get upset. "I want to stay up! I'll put up a fight. I don't need to sleep, not even at night!" "Oh, will you?" her mother asked with a grin. "And where would this nighttime adventure begin?" **** closed her eyes and thought really hard, "What about the woods behind the backyard?" Also I wouldn't suggest to a small child to go searching out in the woods. It's a gift so I'm going to recommend the parents adlib the first few pages. Very disappointing and a lot of money.

Linda, thank you for explaining what troubled you about the story. I’m sorry the wording made you uncomfortable giving it as a gift, and that we haven’t replied sooner. The language and themes matter just as much as the illustrations. I’d welcome the chance to talk through your concerns and help find a better fit. Please contact our team at [email protected]. — Erik, Co-founder

I just ordered this morning. I love the idea of the products and bought subscriptions but I am having a hard time with the website. I can’t pull up my order, my “heroes” aren’t all together - 1 is missing ( the one I bought in one of the stories, actually), I don’t know which character pictures are actually used and I don’t want future books messed up. I want to add 3 more children, but I won’t if the website isn’t more user friendly. It is so glitchy that I worry about fraud. Once I receive the products and I can order the others smoothly, I would love to change the ratings.

Thank you for giving MagicStory a try, Jennifer, and for being honest about the bumps. A glitchy first experience is the last thing we want, and you should never have to worry. We'd love to get your heroes lined up correctly and your order pulled up so adding your other children is smooth. Please reach us at [email protected] with your order details and we'll sort it out. We'd love to earn those extra stars.

I liked the idea of the books so I signed up for a subscription- but then I discovered there were books that you cannot get with the subscription. In addition to the books you couldn’t order with the subscription, you could not add extra characters such as pets, parents, etc., on the app using the subscription - the books had to be purchased on the website separately from the app. The service needs refinement. For example, some of the books that the child character was different on different pages ( different hair, different clothing, different sizes). Also some of the child characters had an extreme Pixar features, and some had a more realistic look to them. There is no consistency. You are asked their age when you create their character, however the child sizes in the books don’t reflect the age you pick. My friend had purchased Mother’s Day books for each of her grown daughters. They both had more than 1 child but she had to order 1 book for each child because you are not able to include all the children in the Mother’s Day book. They also noticed that the pages were not the same in each of the books. The pages were different from one book to the other. Also with the Mother’s Day book I ordered, the mom character was generic and did not reflect the sample image shown.

Thank you for such thoughtful, detailed feedback, Ishidawn, this is exactly the kind of input that helps us improve. You've raised fair points on subscription options, character consistency, and the Mother's Day book, and we're sharing them with our team. We'd also love to make your own experience right, please reach out at [email protected] so we can help.

Super cute book but would be good to be able to edit the text as I made the book for twin grandsons. It does not read well with both names.
Response from Magic Story· May 18, 2026
Jeannie — thank you for flagging this. Twin (and sibling) personalization is genuinely tricky in a story written for one hero, and it's something we're actively thinking about. In the meantime, we'd love to make this right — please reach out to our team and we'll see what we can do to help. ❤️
