I liked that the fees were lower than other sites. I did not feel the site was user friendly.

I found your site difficult to navigate, unreliable with payment information, complicated to use, and hard to trust. I did not care for the experience. The home owner, however, was marvelous, generous, responsive, and had exquisite taste. The location was spectacular. That saves this from being a complete negative. Make payment easier and make sure the site doesn’t crash on the iPhone.

It sounds like the stay itself was excellent and the platform was the weak link — difficult navigation, a payment flow that didn't feel reliable, and crashes on iPhone. None of that should stand between a great host and a guest, and I'm sorry it did. The payment and iPhone issues are the concrete ones I can act on, so I'm raising both. If you can tell me a little more about when the site crashed or where the payment info looked off, that detail would help us fix it faster. Glad the host and the location made it worth it in the end — and I'd like the platform to earn that same review next time.

Bottom line.. Support needs to have a better response. A few days to respond is not support especially if the site has a problem.

The site does exactly what it claims. Allows direct bookings without having to go through the big guys. But it doesn’t market and never claimed to. I suppose I need better ways to get returning guests to use it.

You're also right that we haven't focused on much centralised paid marketing, and there's a reason for that. Up until now, our priority has been building the best possible product: a well-rounded, flexible, and free platform for hosts. It's tough to market a platform that doesn't take a cut of your bookings — we're essentially promoting your business, not ours. But that's the big question we're tackling this year. Our goal is to make Houfy something hosts actively use as a tool to drive and supercharge their book-direct business — not just a listing site, but a real part of your strategy for building guest relationships and repeat bookings. Excellent site with regards to functionality, considering it has a free use plan. The only thing i would add is marketing efforts. Houfy must invest in marketing their site, and it will surely take off, as everyone is looking to pay low or no fees. When hosts start getting houfy bookings organically and not through their own marketing efforts, hosts will also start spending on the different houfy paid plans offered.

We've spent the last few years heads-down on the product, focused on making Houfy as well-rounded, flexible, and genuinely free as possible. That had to come first — there's no point driving traffic to something that isn't ready. Now that the foundation is solid, marketing is the big question we're tackling this year. It's a unique challenge — how do you market a platform that doesn't take a cut of bookings? We're essentially promoting hosts' businesses, not our own. The site creation site is very troublesome. Pages don't work all the time. You can't click buttons or enter information and have to reload the page just to continue to the next page

Houfy was great in that I could book directly, save a service fee, and receive quick communication from the owner of the property. I would give it 5 stars except the link to pay for the holiday reservation was not working. I messaged the owner of the property and he sent me a new link, which worked immediately. Other than that, houfy was great and I will use it again. It was not as expensive to rent as it was on VRBO and Airbnb. I will try Houfy first from now on.
