Gate 1 TravelReviews of gate1travel.com

The places gate one introduced are excellent, beautiful and magnificent, Tour director is very friendly and helpful. Gate one offers very consistent good service as always does.

So I never actually used this company; this review is on behalf of my sister in law. She and my brother had planned an excursion with Gate 1 on a European trip. He tragically and suddenly passed away less than 2 weeks before they left. She called as soon as possible (he passed on a holiday weekend, plus she had to get her thoughts straight), and called to notify them. Their policy seems to be pretty straightforward: if you cancel too late, you are only refunded 10%. She would be refunded 100% of my brother's share after sending in the death certificate; fine. But they refused to refund her share anything more than 10%. The trip was 8 days away by then; she's not going to go after losing him so quickly!! She even would have been happy with a credit to use their company at a future time. But although the representative was clearly consulting another person, it wasn't even considered.

I became ill on the third day of my river trip. The next day I asked to see a doctor, they gave us directions to a pharmacy that supposedly had a doctor. I had to walk up two long flights of steps and then walk 4 blocks. When we go there they said they didn’t have a doctor. Round trip it was 1 mile walk. I wasn’t sure I could make it, as I was extremely weak. Next day the director walked several people that were sick 5 blocks to a pharamacy that had a doctor. This “doctor” tested me for Covid and flu. I had the flu. He didn’t check my lungs, heart, oxygen level or temperature. Just gave me over the counter meds. I later looked it up and he was not a doctor . He is a pharmacist that has a license to check minor illnesses and suggest over the counter drugs. I have never felt this sick ,I am 77 years old. I was sleeping all the time, had a constant cough and hurt all over. After seeing “the doctor” no one from the ship came to see if I was doing ok or if I needed anything. I never did get to see a an actual doctor. I believe when someone is sick enough to ask to see a doctor that service should be provided. I will never use gate 1 again or recommend it to my friends, knowing my health concerns were not taken seriously. At my age access to health care is important to me.

My daughter and I just took our first Gate 1 tour to Amsterdam, Bruges, Paris, and London. The add-on experiences that we booked were a lot of fun, though we did not take all of the add-ons, allowing us some extra time to explore on our own. Our driver Conny did a phenomenal job and was so kind and attentive.  Our tour manager Jean-Pascal, was engaging, funny, and knowledgeable. He kept our group informed at each step of the tour and provided thoughtful guidance on activities, dining, and how best to navigate at each stop. All of the local tour guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. Gate 1 did a great job of accommodating our vegetarian diet. My daughter and I had such a great time that we’ve begun planning our next adventure with Gate 1.

My mom and I just took our first Gate 1 trip: the 10-day classic through Amsterdam, Bruges, Paris, and London. This was a perfect first trip for us. Our tour manager, Jean-Pascal, was wonderful. He always went out of his way to make everyone comfortable and answer any questions. He shared interesting facts about each location and spoiled us with special local treats. Our bus driver, Conny, did an excellent job getting us safely around the first three countries and was so sweet! All of the local guides did a phenomenal job. Our London guide was especially funny! It was so nice not to have to worry about transportation and hotels. We loved the mix of scheduled activities and free time to explore on our own. That balance made the trip feel especially worthwhile, and we’re already trying to pick our next Gate 1 adventure.

It was the trip of a lifetime. Great hotels, excellent guide and drivers. It was totally wonderful.

I went on a trip with Gate 1 in April this year, Classic 12 day trip to Amsterdam, Bruges, Paris and London. Soma was our tour manager. He was amazing, kept us safe and gave us so much info. He was funny and very knowledgeable. I would love if he could be my tour manager again! I have Celiac disease and Soma went out of his way to make sure any meal we ate with the group was good for me. On the bus rides he would have goodies for us local to the places we were visiting, and even got a gluten free goody for me. I was very touched. The trip was fabulous, well planned. We stayed in great hotels that were centrally located. The bus drivers were amazing too. I love going on Gate 1 tours and tell all my friends about them. Can’t wait for the next one!

Attempted to gain info on size of groups and type of transportation between sites on a particular trip but could not obtain the info unless I provided additional personal info such as email, etc. Just wanted some basic info to decide if I wanted to continue to explore their services without being subsequently bombarded by unwanted email.
