The concept is the future but the amount of editing I had to do with the details and the schedule, almost made it more work than what I would have done doing the old way. I’m on the fence with this. Probably won’t use it again.

The experience of having AI significantly shorten the process of script breakdowns, scheduling and budgeting was fantastic. However, I found out quickly that I was not able to rely even just a little bit on AI to make the scheduling and the budgeting accurate. I spent more time editing than I had planned for, and that quickly became frustrating. For students who are just learning the process, I do not think this is beneficial unless they are working on a short film and small budgets.

Filmustage has revolutionized how I approach script analysis and production planning. Its AI-driven breakdowns are fast, accurate, and incredibly intuitive, saving hours of manual work. From scheduling to scene insights, it has helped me streamline collaboration across departments. For me, it’s not just a tool but an asset for any serious filmmaker. I highly recommend it for teams aiming to elevate both creativity and efficiency.

As I worked with my writing students, I was able to use Filmustage to show them the produceability of their scripts. This gave them insight into the impact of their words in terms of production, which makes them more astute writers.

BEWARE FALSE PROMISES ON THE UPGRADES - I upgraded because I thought Budget would export to Movie Magic Budget but it only outputs PDF which splits the page mid-row and to excel which is useless so I've spent hours of work for nothing. I would have been better off using Movie Magic and build the budget from scratch. Very frustrating - the support chat wakes up very infrequently to answer my queries - very inconsistent.

Hi Kelly, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're genuinely sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations. We’d like to clarify that exporting directly to Movie Magic Budget is not a feature we currently offer, and this is clearly stated on our Pricing Page, where all supported export formats (PDF and Excel) are listed. (Update September 2025: Filmustage now supports export to Movie Magic Budgeting). To avoid any confusion, we also checked our support history and can confirm that you asked specifically about Movie Magic export. Our team clearly informed you that this feature is not available — and you responded with a "thank you", confirming the message was understood. We regret that this may have been forgotten, but the communication was clear and transparent. That said, we absolutely understand the importance of this feature — and we’re happy to share that support for exporting to Movie Magic Budget is currently in development. We're working hard to make it available as soon as possible. Given that your review appears to be based on a misunderstanding rather than a failure to deliver on advertised features, we would sincerely appreciate it if you would consider updating your rating. Your feedback is valuable and helps guide our improvements. If there’s anything more we can do to support you, please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]. Warm regards, The Filmustage Team

The software improves every time I use it. I've been working with it for years. It really comes in handy when I need to put together a rough schedule really quick.

Filmustage was a very valuable tool for me making a first pass on breaking scripts down to then build budgets off of. However I became more impressed recently with their customer service and their understanding of the tough times film industry employees are going through. When my yearly subscription was renewed I was not in a place financially to afford it and they were able to issue me a full refund and understood my situation. I really enjoyed the product and look forward to renewing my subscription once I have my next gig in place.
