I signed up for a six month payment plan which worked out well. My attorney gave me a business card for a company called NABS, which delivered a replacement vehicle to my door within a few weeks; I had to surrender my other vehicle under the Chapter 7 plan! Great attorney who worked with me for the conversion from Chapter 13 to Chapter 7.

The only issues I had was that it was confusing about who was handling my case. The attorney’s name that was on my documents, was not who signed off on everything. Plus I still keep having things pop back up on my credit report.

My chapter 7 is now discharged....at least I assume so. I have never heard from anyone from here in quite some time. During the 6 months throughout this process, I left messages and sent emails to the lawyer assigned to my case and not once got a reply or call back! I should have taken, the fact that on my first 3 trips into the office I never met with the same person, as a hint. Having to file isn't a proud moment and having to tell your story to numerous people isn't what I expected. I even had a creditor I am friendly with that I was reaffirming my loan with reach out to my attorney numerous times, via email, calls and even fax and they too....never heard back from anyone! I was expecting a lot more from these guys and although it appears my case has turned out OK, I would not recommend Debtstoppers Atlanta and the Semrad Law Firm to anyone!

Bankruptcy is not for everyone, and I'm quickly finding that out. I will not bash this firm, because I had a nice Attorney, he did what was needed to file on my behalf, and got my discharge. However, I had to mention when my case was discharged and ask what the next step was. I can honestly say I'm no better off than I was before filing. Regrettably, I feel the worst. For anyone who's considering filing bankruptcy, try working with your creditors first, dispute any negative marks on your credit. While bankruptcy will wipe them off, all negative remarks will remain, all late payments remarks will remain. Somehow, that vital piece of information was not explained in my consultation. I'm still making payments to this firm, yet I'm just wondering, as a client, why was I left feeling this way?

Hello Raymond, As you know, bankruptcy is a great tool for legally eliminating financial obligations so you can move forward without struggling under the burden of excess debt. However, the debts one discharges under the bankruptcy laws become part of your credit record. This is an important factor in choosing bankruptcy, which is why we require that our attorneys always inform clients of this fact. Clearly, most people would prefer to clear their debts by paying them off, but generally speaking, our clients find that impossible. We’re happy to be able to help them. If there’s anything else I can assist you with, please reach out to me directly at 312-300-9058. Regards, Anisa DebtStoppers
