I purchased the butt buffer to use for daily commuting and long trips. I had high hopes for it, I really wanted to love it. In the past I have had to use a gel pad and a beaded seat to get the relief I needed on long trips and I really had hoped that the butt buffer would eliminate the need for multiple cushions. In the past I have used airhawk seat cushions, gel pads and beaded seat cushions. The pros: It arrived quickly. The size small fits great on my Ducati Scrambler, it doesn’t hang over the sides. Reduces vibration. Haven’t taken it on a long ride yet, but so far so good. The cons: My biggest issue with the butt buffer is that it absorbs heat. I use my bike to commute to work, so it was sitting in the San Diego sun for eight hours, mind you it was only 90 degrees that day. If I was not wearing gore tex Klim riding pants and blue jeans my nether regions would have been scalded/burned. It was so hot that I had to stand and ride multiple times during my 40 minute ride home. Even after 40 minutes the butt buffer was still warm when I arrived home. After the second day, I had to remove it from my bike because it was so unbearably hot. The first time I’ve experience swamp ass is when I used the butt buffer and I have ridden in the desert numerous times in 115-degree heat and never had an issue with sweaty nether regions. None of my previous gel cushions have ever absorbed heat like this. This seat cushion is clearly not meant for use in hot weather. Definitely not a cooling seat cushion. My second big issue is the clips to fasten the butt buffer to the bike, it is not as easy as they make it out to be. I still had to remove my seat from the motorcycle to attach it. If I have to remove my seat, I would have preferred just a strap that goes under the seat, as the clips are very tight and cause indentations into the seat. It is easily removeable by slipping the straps out of the clips and leaving the clips attached to the seat, but once you take it off you can’t get it back on without removing the seat, taking the clips off, thread the straps through the clips, reattach the clips to seat and finally put the seat back in place. They could have easily remedied the situation with a second strap or Velcro on the existing straps that would allow you to use either the clips or the strap. Definite design flaw. I did find that it does change my riding position, it feels like it tilts me forward. Not a big issue, but enough that I notice it. I really wanted to be able to use this year-round, but not possible with the way it absorbs heat. I will most likely return it as I can only use it on long trips. I am very disappointed. Once they figure out a way for it to not absorb the heat and fix the strap/clip situation, they will have a great product. Thank you butt buffer for your quick response, I really appreciate it. Yes, I would love to try the new and improved version with the smaller clips when it is available. Please let me know what I need to do. Thank you.

Unfortunately, there's no easy answer to the "how to attach it to the bike" question since there are so many different seat pans. We're in the process of redesigning the clips. They're going to be about 1/2 the size of the current ones which will hopefully make attaching them easier. We've also added a second Velcro piece to one of the elastic straps so if you so desire, the clips can be removed and the two straps can be Velcroed together under the seat. Both should be available in a month or so. If you'd like to try the "new and improved" version, I'd be happy to send you one as soon as it's available. Another option is simply remove the clips and place the pad on the bike seat. With the nonslip backing, it's not going anywhere when you're sitting on it. This allows you to either easily store it in a trunk or saddlebags (or use it on an office chair) which will not only keep it cooler but will prevent anyone from walking off with it. We do offer a moneyback guarantee, so if you choose to return it, that's not a problem. I hope to have everything available in a month or so. If you want to send me a reminder email towards the end of September, I can update you. Don't worry about the 30 day guarantee. If you want to return it after trying the "improved' version, that won't be a problem.

There were several issues with the Butt Buffer. The first issue was attaching the Butt Buffer to the seat. I have a 2011 CVO Road glide with the stock seat. In order to attach the Butt Buffer to the seat, I had to remove the plastic clips and tie the ends of the elastic straps together. The clips that came with the Butt Buffer had no locking mechanism; therefore, the tension from the straps caused the clips to unclasp. I then had to zip tie the straps in place to prevent the Butt Buffer from sliding down to the narrow part of the seat. I purchased the Butt Buffer for a cross country motorcycle trip, which ended up being 8,180 miles from door to door. The right front lip of the Butt Buffer kept curling up under my right thigh when mounting the bike. I had to repeatedly lift off the seat, shift back and use my body weight to push the lip forward. It was more of an annoyance than anything. Lastly, I found myself shifting due to butt pain. I am 5'10, 190 lbs. and rode no more than 500 miles a day. Others that I was riding with did not have that problem. The"others"who I am referring to are comparable in stature to myself, were riding Road Glides of similar age with stock seats and were equipped with other seat padding products. In hindsight, I would have consulted other riders in my group before purchasing the Butt Buffer.

I'm sorry you were disappointed. Unfortunately, there's no universal mounting system that's going to work on all bikes. That's one of the reasons the clips are removable. They're also loops on each corner of the pad that can be used to secure it to either the seat pan or directly to the bike. Knowing that we can't solve every seating issue, we do offer a money back guarantee if our pad didn't perform up to your expectations.
