Disappointed with Spruce's Move-Out Cleaning Service

I had initial reservations about booking Spruce for a move-out cleaning, especially after a previous one-time cleaning appointment in May was canceled at the last minute, leaving me in a bind. Despite this, I decided to give them another chance due to limited availability from other providers. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations. Although all prior communication referred to a “team,” only one cleaner arrived to handle a two-bedroom apartment. After 4.5 hours, several key tasks included in the move-out service were either incomplete or poorly done. I wasn’t given the opportunity to inspect the work before the cleaner left—I only received a text saying the job was finished. When I arrived, the cleaner was already gone. I ended up purchasing my own cleaning supplies and spent nearly two additional hours cleaning areas that were missed, including the blinds, toilets, and kitchen cabinet doors. When I raised a complaint, I was offered only a small portion of the total cost as compensation. The time I spent, the cost of supplies, and the inconvenience were not acknowledged. Unfortunately, this experience has led me to decide that I won’t be using Spruce’s services again.

We are always happy to review what was missed and one of the resolutions we offer based on the quality of the service is a redo for what was missed so our customers do not have to re-clean areas themselves. Our records show that compensation was offered based on the areas noted, but we understand that this may not have fully reflected the time and effort you spent correcting what was missed. Your feedback has been shared with our operations and training teams for further review, and we’re using it to reinforce expectations with our cleaning professionals. While we respect your decision to discontinue services with us, we want to thank you again for your honest feedback—it helps us improve. Like I said on the app
Like I said on the app, she cleaned everything properly like she was supposed to, but she left the door unlocked and she didn’t turn off the lights that left my unit exposed to possible intruders and it wastes electricity not cool!

The floors were not cleaned
The floors were not cleaned. Cleaner showed up 30 minutes late and didn't clean the floors and left within an hour and a half. I paid $184 plus $20 tip. I am upset.

Spruce Cleaning web site layout is not…
Spruce Cleaning web site layout is not customer friendly and pricing for service is misleading. As a busy professional and preparing for family coming in town I opted for the first time to book housekeeping service and because there was a decent Black Friday deal. However, discovering after services were complete that $129 is for repeat service. In addition, the ladies who came out almost missed cleaning my ceiling fans, which is part of the premium service. I asked about it being clean and one of the ladies apologized but on top of this I was told they forgot their duster. They dusted my living room ceiling fan with a towel over the end of a broom stick which is not sanitary. Overall given this experience with the confusion on the service price listing and me having to ask about dusting the ceiling fan where neither employee was prepared in bringing a duster for a house cleaning job, I'm neither satisfied or happy with the service I received from Spruce cleaning service. The ladies were nice and did a decent job outside forgetting the duster and along with the billing I give this service 3 stars.

Poor cleaning
Bathroom floor under sink area and around walls are still dirty with hair and debris buildup. Kitchen under sink and dishwasher still has dirt buildup and debris. Kitchen counter still has water stains as well as in the sink. Debris buildup in corner of door too. Backsplash still has gunk and doesn't look like it was wiped down at all.

The clean was fine
The clean was fine. Some cobwebs remained on the ceilings (not at all hard to reach) and towels left bundled on the floor. It was disappointing that Spruce also tried to upsell me on washing the dishes but said that they could load the dishwasher but then back tracked on that and said they couldn’t empty the few clean dishes from the dishwasher first. All in all quite expensive for what you get.
