The overall service did work for texting and calling. I had trouble with some apps and called tech support. First, the number was badly hand written on my paperwork from Amigo. When I called, the man on the other end was just annoyed that I even called and was no help at all. Next time I'll just go with a worldwide plan from my carrier.

Unfortunately, I received a SIM card promptly but it never worked on my trip. Amigo tried to say my phone was locked but it wasn't. When Amigo realized it was their fault after talking to my phone company, it was too late to rectify the situation. They didn't give me a hard time about not charging me but it did put a damper on how I had to communicate when I wasn't with someone carrying a working phone.

I apologize for the difficulties that you had on your trip. I understand and recognize that your carrier said that your phone was not locked, but they issue was definitely on their end and not ours. The fault was not ours, we never agreed or said that. What we said is that if they claim that your phone is unlocked, which it clearly wasn't, there was nothing we could do to resolve the issue for you. Not only did we "not give you a hard time about not charging you", but in spite of the fact that the fault was not ours, we still issued you a full credit, prior to your return or phone call.

Although I had paid for unlimited data, I was disappointed with how infrequently the data network was available. We had been mostly traveling in populated areas and found that the data availability was around 50% of the time. Although the service was helpful when available, it was too unreliable to be considered as an option.

The purpose of using Amigo was to have phone available as soon as I landed. The phone was no activated until I called and as a result ended up having to rent a phone at the airport. As a result of the time differences it took half a day before the phone was usable. The people I dealt with were friendly and helpful, but the experience was marred by not having the phone when I needed it

When placing the order for equipment I was told that I would be notified for pick up of the equipment Thursday before my Tuesday Departure. This did not happen. I went to the pick up location Sunday they were closed. I returned Monday and finally they were there. By Monday afternoon I received the email telling me to come to pick up the equipment. In use of the telephone I found that the memory features were not functional and did not store phone book information at all. This became frustrating to me.

I recently took a trip to Israel and rented 2 SIM cards from Amigo. The entire process was very confusing and hardly had any guidance. I was never told my credit card was/wasn't charged. I wasn't even informed how much the total was until I looked at my credit card statement. On the confirmation order it gave me various prices and I didn't know which ones applied to me. When I picked up the SIM cards from a distributer, I wasn't given any instructions with it. How to check my voicemail, how to call America, etc. Since Amigo is a big company, I was pretty surprised. I honestly don't know if I'll use them again especially also since the prices weren't great.

I apologize for the sub-par experience that you had. All orders that are shipped from or picked up at our main location always include full detailed instructions. We do our best to make sure that our distributors distribute instructions with the SIM cards as well, but it's not easy for us to monitor that. We have customer service numbers both here and in Israel, as well as support email as well. All a customer has to do is call or email us and we'd be happy to help you answer whatever questions you have and help you resolve any need. I will make sure that the pricing gets investigated as well. We want to keep you as not only a customer, but a happy and more than satisfied customer.

I am not swift when it comes to technical things, and therefore had questions before I left on my trip about how to operate my rented Amigo phone. The company rep who answered when I called to ask my questions was rude, dismissive, and snippety. He had little patience for me. I quickly realized that I was dealing with a real wiseguy, someone with an attitude, rather than a helpful, supportive, individual. The result was that, while I could make and receive phone calls while I was abroad (which I was able to figure out by myself), I was never able to figure out how to check my phone for messages. This impeded the value and usefulness of the rental. Techno-primitives like myself: Beware!

I am sorry that you had a bad experience when speaking with our representative. I'm not sure to whom you are referring, but all the staff will be spoke to. As far as your issue regarding retrieving voice mails, all the phones come with very clear, easy to follow, step by step instructions, not in email, but on paper, that clearly explain the easy steps required to retrieve voice mails. Were you not able to follow the instructions, or did you not read them?

I contracted for a blackberry phone since it gave me unlimited telephone calls to and from the states and internet and text messaging. Unfortunately there were no instructions on how to use the phone. there were instructions on how to connect to email. the email connection via the internet did not work and i was on the phone with amigo in the states for hours trying to get it to work. finally it worked. then i had to find someone to help me figure out how to use the phone. it is very different from the iPhone i am accustomed to. i figured it out enuf to use the phone part, but the rest was difficult. I had to connect my iPhone to international plan while i was in israel to use text messaging. then my phone was disconnected 1 day before i left so i couldn't use it all. so while the phone was working for phone calls it was great. i would not use that phone again. amigo has no offices in israel so there was noone i could turn to for more help.
